The Guild’s (or MAGI’s) mission is to promote the highest professional and academic standards in Masonic research, education, and publications. These standards are equal to those used by academic departments, associations, journals, and publishers. Guild membership is by invitation and offered only to those who meet, or exceed, the Guild’s standards. As MAGI is an educational project, it is not affiliated nor supervised by any Masonic grand body or organization, whatsoever.

To meet its mission MAGI’s first initiative was to launch its podcast Season One in February 2024, with twenty short book reviews. Season Two was launched on 24 June available through Patreon, Spotify, Apple, XXX. Everyone is welcome to subscribe through one of three levels: Friend (Free), Observer ($5/month), and Student ($10/month. Weekly and monthly episodes range in formats include short and long papers on Masonic topics, Masonic history book reviews, lectures, and interview of academic historians.

Plans for Season Three are already underway with higher subscription levels with more podcast content, direct MAGI support to Masonic scholars and researchers, a potential journal and, the obligatory and always popular MAGI merchandise.

The MAGI’s members are Robert Cooper, who lives in Edinburgh, and Mark Tabbert who lives in Iowa. Beginning in the 1990s both members worked extensively as curators in Masonic museums, published significant academic historical research, produced over 12 books, and contributed to Masonic journals and magazines. Together they have over 65 years as Freemasons and are members of numerous Masonic research societies and lodges in Europe and North America.
